Some clients may not be able to lie on their back or stomach, so it is
important to be able to massage them in a position in which they are
comfortable. Many clients are more comfortable lying on their side.
They enjoy the stretches and feeling of elongation that they experience
with this work. Your client's body is not a pancake to be flipped over
in the middle of a massage, but rather is a three dimensional
structure, to be worked with from different perspectives.
Sidelying work can integrate well into a relaxation massage. You can
start with a client lying prone, then on one side, then on the other
side, and then finish with them supine. Clients that I have done this
with have enjoyed it and have asked for the sidelying work in future
sessions.
Some areas such as the shoulders, low back and hips can be accessed
best when the client is lying on their side. Learn effective techniques
for these areas as well as a flowing full body massage that can be done
in the sidelying position. Proper draping and use of bolsters will be
shown.
Workshop participants will get a prototype DVD and workbook to help with learning and to remember and review the techniques afterward.

Techniques learned in sports massage can be applied to any client. Your body does not know the difference between an extensor tendinitis caused by an improper backhand in tennis, or by too much work on the computer. Learn techniques to help all your clients in this information packed workshop.
Sports massage is designed to improve athletic performance, or aid in the recovery or rehabilitation of an athlete after an injury or event. Many different modalities are used, and an understanding of the physiological basis is important in knowing which modalities to use in a given situation.
In this workshop you will expand your toolbox by learning about many different modalities, how they work, and when to use them with your athlete/client. Modalities covered will include PNF Stretching, Reciprocal Inhibition, Cross Fiber, Strain Counterstrain and Trigger Point Therapy, Cryotherapy, Pre and Post-event Massage, and positional release techniques. Please wear athletic attire for this workshop.
