Since writing this article, I have been asked many times how to differentiate when to use movement or when to use rest for an injury. The answer is easy and fairly obvious. If an area is hypermobile, such as a torn ligament or a broken bone, you need to rest it. If an area is hypomobile, you need to move it. Any movement should be gentle and pain free.

It is like the idea that you can fix anything with either WD 40 or duct tape. If it doesn't move and you want it to, use WD 40. If it moves and you don't want it to, use duct tape.
